Student prizes

Each year the Faculty of Business and Law recognises the outstanding achievements of our students through Student Prizes. Students who have won a prize are notified by the Faculty of Business & Law by the end of February each year and are invited to attend the Student Prize Night to receive their prize at that time.

Australian Hotels Association AHA (WA) Valedictory Prize for Hospitality Management Awarded to the graduating student who has exhibited the most commitment to the Western Australian hospitality industry through an undergraduate degree in Hospitality.
Australian Human Resources Institute Australian Human Resources Institute Prize for the Bachelor of Business (HR Management major) Awarded to the student with the highest average mark in the Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management).
Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM)  Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) Undergraduate award  Awarded to the student with the highest overall mark in the undergraduate Project Management unit MAN3612 during the calendar year.  
Australian Taxation Office The Australian Taxation Office Prize for Excellence in Taxation Law Awarded to the student with the highest overall mark in Taxation Law.
CCH Australia Ltd CCH Advanced Taxation Law Prize Prize not available in 2011.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA Legal Prize for Employment Law Prize not available in 2011.
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Prize Awarded to the student with the highest overall mark in Managerial Accounting II and Cost Accounting II.
Department of Corrective Services   The Commissioner's Award for Excellence in Professional Skills  The prize will be awarded to the student who has the highest average mark across both units CRI 2101 and CRI 2104 undertaken in their G81 or K16 degree.
Department of Corrective Services    Corrective Services Award for Academic Achievement/Excellence in Correctional Studies   The prize will be awarded to the student with the highest average mark for one of the following combinations: CRI 111 (Law and Order) and CRI 3103 (Juvenile Justice) or CRI 1111 (Law and Order) and CRI 3105 (Community Corrections). Where a student has studied all three units, the highest mark in CRI 3103 or CRI 3105 will be taken.

Dr Heather MacGowan OAM Dr Heather MacGowan OAM Award for Professional Practice in Sport, Recreation and Event Management Awarded to two students in a sport, recreation and/or event management course/major for an outstanding poster and portfolio presentation of their industry practice experience in the Industry Practice unit.

Rosalie Heaney Rosalie Heaney Expedition Management in Adventure Recreation Prize Awarded to the student who receives the highest mark in Expedition Management in Adventure Recreation.
Acacia Prison The Serco Acacia Award for enhancing the understanding of the experiences of Aboriginal people in prisons Awarded to the student whose critical essay has been judged the best according to the following criteria:

  • It is a critical assessment of aboriginal imprisonment in WA; and 
  • It brings awareness to a particular issue associated with Aboriginal imprisonment; or
  • It contributes to the understanding of a particular issue.
The essays will be judged by the Director, Acacia Prison; Assistant Director Offender Management and the Programmes Manager. 
SKAL International Perth The SKAL International Perth, Brian Philippson Memorial Award Awarded to the graduating student with the highest weighted average mark in the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management in the awarding period.
Tourism Council WA The Tourism Council Western Australia Award for Excellence in Tourism Awarded to the graduating student who has exhibited the most commitment to the Australian tourism industry throughout the Bachelor of Tourism Management or the Bachelor of Business (Tourism Management).
Emeritus Prof. Val Pervan AM The V.M Pervan Prize Awarded to the student with the highest score in Principles of Accounting.
WA Police WA Police Merit Award for Academic Achievement & Frontline Leadership Awarded to one of the 5 eligible students in the C25 course with the highest weighted average mark after completing 120 credit points of academic study and who has demonstrated excellence in leadership as determined by the WA Police Academic Board of Studies. 
WA Police WA Police Professional Development Portfolio Award for Academic Achievement Awarded to the student with the highest weighted average mark in the Associate Degree of Criminology and Justice (Policing) and who has successfully completed the Police Academy Practicum.
WA Sports Federation WA Sports Federation Award for Excellence in Sport Management Awarded to the graduating student with the highest course weighted average mark in the Bachelor of Sport Management or Bachelor of Business (Sport Management)in a calendar year.
Yanchep Beach Joint Venture Yanchep Beach Sustainable Urban Design Award Awarded to the student who achieves the highest final mark for the unit PLN 1600, Foundations of Planning, in a given year.
