SAFE Seminar Series 2012

SAFE Seminar Series

The School of Accounting, Finance & Economics (SAFE) invites you to attend the fifth seminar in the 2012 series:

Financial and non-financial reporting:
A future trend – perspectives from Indonesia

Financial reporting is no longer adequate for corporate reporting. Corporate social and environmental responsibilities have become significant aspects of companies in addition to the traditional economic measures of performance. Hence, the need for reporting social and environmental performance has become more important for companies in their efforts to reduce non-financial risks, enhance credibility, and gain more positive reputation.

For these reasons, a sustainability report or an integrated report is needed to complement financial reports in order to provide a comprehensive depiction of a company's performance. A sustainability reporting guideline from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the practice of sustainability reporting in Indonesia will also be discussed in this seminar.

Dr Juniati Gunawan is the Director of Trisakti Sustainability Center, and a Senior Lecturer at Trisakti University in Jakarta, Indonesia, teaching masters and doctoral courses. Dr Gunawan received her PhD in Accounting from ECU in 2008, and is a Certified Sustainability Reporting Specialist and Assuror, and a certified trainer for Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standard guideline for sustainability reporting.

Dr Gunawan's professional portfolio also includes various roles in sustainability related areas, such as a supervisory board member of the Indonesia Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Consortium and the CSR Profession Association; an expert committee member and an adjudicator for Indonesia CSR Award and the Indonesia Sustainability Reporting Award; a member of Social Responsibility Research Network (SRRN) and the Centre of Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR); an author and reviewer for international journals and a managing partner for a sustainability consulting business.
