Experts recently gathered in Sydney for the inaugural Graduate Management Association of Australia Conference to discuss issues relating to building and sustaining high performance management.

School of Accounting, Finance and Economics Associate Professor Hadrian Djajadikerta delivered a speech to the business and academic audience on Sustainability reporting: A Developing Trend in Business.

His speech proved the audience with insights into:

  • Sustainable development;
  • Corporate social and environmental responsibility;
  • Sustainability reporting;
  • Global reporting initiative; and
  • Integrated reporting and several findings on the practice of sustainability reporting in the Australasian region.

Associate Professor Djajadikerta said that so far there has been a lot of fine words but not enough action in this field.

“It is pleasing to notice that the awareness of the importance of sustainable development and sustainability reporting has been growing, but it is quite disconcerting to see that their actual practices have progressed rather slowly,” Associate Professor Djajadikerta said.

“Collaborative efforts must be made to further enhance the stakeholders’ understanding regarding these issues.”
