Sport Management student shines

Monday, 18 April 2011

Recent Sport Management graduate Ashleigh Davis is already making a successful career for herself, with the help of a practical placement completed in 2009. The placement was completed with Triathlon WA as part of her ECU studies.

In January of 2010 the practicum provided her with further opportunities, and she accepted a part-time position with the organisation as the Club Development Officer. In this new position, Ashleigh liaised with clubs and members of the sport in WA, and assisted with the organisation of the SunSmart Festival of Triathlon 2010.

At the conclusion of her studies in November 2010, Ashleigh was offered a full-time position at Triathlon WA. She has also recently taken on new responsibilities within the organisation, as Athlete Services Manager for the SunSmart Festival of Triathlon 2011.

“The opportunity to work as a Club Development Officer and complete my degree in Sport Management was of great benefit to both my work and my studies.”

“Without the support and flexible learning that ECU provides, it may not have been possible to complete my degree with the achieved results or gain work in my chosen field,” she said.

Ashleigh was also the recipient of the 2010 Dr Heather McGowan OAM Award for outstanding achievement in sport and recreation.
