Dr Edward Andre
Senior Planning lecturer Dr Edward Andre has recently assisted two Planning students in gaining exciting workplace opportunities to complement their studies.
An architect, urban designer, landscape architect and town planner combined, Dr Andre has used his industry links to support Graduate Diploma of Planning student, Matt Robinson, and Bachelor of Planning student, Daniel Bouwer.
Matt has recently completed work experience over the summer holidays with the City of Wanneroo and Daniel will complete a four week placement during the 2011 semester break with The WA Young Planners in the East Pilbara region.
The WA Young Planners work placement is a new initiative to help young planners get involved and interested in working in regional areas.
Dr Andre places high importance on encouraging students to take advantage of work placements during their time at ECU.
“It helps them take theory out of the classroom and apply it in the real world. It also provides an opportunity to explore the different aspects of the Planning industry and identify their area of interest,” he said.
ECU Urban and Regional Planning lecturers have over 30 years of world-wide industry experience combined. Planning students benefit not only from the personal attention paid to securing work placements, but also from the wealth of knowledge available to them.
