CPA WA Relationship Manager Michael Harris addresses the networking event.
The NEXUS networking event held by the ECU SIFE team for the students of the postgraduate Business Edge unit Foundations of Business Knowledge, has been marked as a great success in engaging the Faculty of Business and Law’s Masters Students with industry.
On October 31, four industry guest speakers delivered a clear message on how to network in today’s interconnected and truly global business environment.
Perth Wildcats Business Development Executive Ben Smith said there were networking opportunities everywhere.
“You just need confidence and patience to create those prospects for yourself,” he said.
“Patience is the key and persistence pays in the long run,” said ECU’s Finance Coordinator Sebastian Luxa.
The panellists drew on many networking success stories from their own lives; including two of the panellists admitting that they had met their partners during networking events.
The students in attendance listened carefully to the panellists, appreciating the chance to quiz and listen to the experiences and lessons learned by the industry guests present.
Elena Krasnova, a Master of Accounting student said it was wonderful to hear from so many perspectives on how to build a career through networking and to have the opportunity to meet such successful business people in person.
As Ben Smith commented “The future looks bright with such eager Masters students at ECU”.
This was a sentiment shared by many ECU dignitaries in attendance and the other panellists as well.
