Degrees Restaurant to re-open with exciting new menu
Friday, 11 March 2011
Hospitality students will get the chance to test out their culinary skills when Degrees Training Restaurant re-opens for Semester One, 2011. The restaurant will open for lunch for the first time this year on Wednesday 16 March, with an exciting new summer menu on offer.
The students involved are currently studying HOS2110 Food and Beverage Management, and with the help of Restaurant Lecturer Chad Tilbury and Chef Lecturer Jason Smith, hope to share their skills and knowledge with real customers in this training environment.
The new menu provides options for quick, easy lunches or three-course affairs, all in a modern, fine-dining setting. The restaurant is fully licensed, with limited beer, wine and soft drinks available.
Prices range from $4 to $8 for entrees, and between $10 and $15 for meals such as a steak sandwich and hand-cut chips, and braised lamb rump with lemon couscous. Desserts, which include apple and rhubarb crumble and chocolate and frangelico tarts, are just $6.
Lecturer Chad Tilbury is very pleased to be helping students to offer this new menu to the public.
“Our students train in all aspects of food and beverage management and would love to share their passion with real customers. The new menu is an enticing blend of cafe, classics, fusion and modern fare, and with menu items changing from week to week, we hope there is something to please everyone,” he said.
Degrees Training Restaurant, located in Building 9 on the Joondalup campus, will be open for lunch on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 12.00 - 2.30pm. Customers should be aware that the facility operates on a cash-only basis.
