Drug use monitoring in Australia
The DUMA project is housed in the Sellenger Centre. It is a national project managed by the Australian Institute of Criminology and is funded by a three year grant from the Federal National Illicit Drug Strategy. The principal aim of the project is to investigate the prevalence of illicit drug use among police detainees at the local level, and to provide comparable and aggregated data at a national level.
The overarching view is to develop a plan of action to combat the accompanying problems of illicit drug use and crime in the Australian community.
