Recruitment gurus Matthew Correia and Eric Lim shared their tips on  securing that dream job at the Leadership Seminar Series hosted by ECU’s Perth Graduate School of Business (PGSB).

The presentation focused on how to gain an edge over other jobseekers in the increasingly-competitive job-seeking environment.

The pair, employed at global recruitment services provider Lloyd Morgan, stressed the importance of first impressions and appearance in successful job hunting.

Mr Correia said before looking for a dream job candidates need to know what they want out of their career and where they want to be and align that with a field that they are passionate about.

“Once you have established this, go about creating a clear brand and position yourself in a way that will allow you to secure your dream job,” he said.

“Those at the presentation got a first-hand understanding of the steps that need to be taken in order to secure their dream job and that a proactive approach is essential.”

Mr Correia said with a persistent and proactive approach a dream job was within anyone’s reach.

The next seminar in the PGSB Leadership Series will feature 40under40 winner Jan Norberger, General Manager of RMS Training and Recruitment on Monday, 22 October at Mount Lawley Campus.

Mr Norberger will provide an overview of the WA mining industry focussing on economic and financial issues as well as exploring the future of mining in WA.
