Research and Higher Degrees
The Associate Dean (Research and Higher Degrees) is responsible for setting the strategic directions for research within the Faculty of Computing, Health and Science. With the assistance of the Faculty Office, the Associate Dean oversees research higher degree students within the faculty, acting as a bridge between the schools and higher levels of the University.
Research
The Faculty of Computing, Health and Science is ECU’s leading research faculty, home to some of the University’s best performing research centres including:
- University Centre for Ecosystem Management;
- Child Health Promotion Research Centre;
- ECU Security Research Institute and Australian Computer Society’s Centre of Excellence in Security;
- Edith Cowan University Health and Wellness Institute;
- Electron Science Research Institute;
- Western Australian Centre for Cancer and Palliative Care; and
- Centre for Marine Ecosystems Research.
Our researchers are encouraged to participate in cross-disciplinary research. This approach to research has already yielded results that may have gone untapped before. Our faculty provides a series of initiatives each year to encourage research activities, including small grants for early career researchers and visiting research fellow grants allowing potential collaboration with colleagues from interstate or overseas.
The faculty is home to three research institutes, eight research centres and a number of research groups. Our research centres are regularly reviewed by external, independent panels and adhere to excellence in research income and publications.
Research degrees
Our research courses cover a wide range of Computing, Health and Science related disciplines, with programs offered at Honours, Masters by Research and Doctoral levels.
Within the faculty we provide strong support to our research students. Our Research Writing Consultant can assist with skills needed to write and edit your thesis, whilst our Research Consultant/Statistician can assist with data analysis skills.
We welcome your enquiries about our research and courses and look forward to working with you on research opportunities of mutual benefit.
