Imagine explaining your life's work in just three minutes
ECU’s Higher Degree by Research candidate 3MT finalists will do just this as they compete prizes up to $1,500. The winner will represent ECU at an Australasian 3MT competition at the University of Western Australia, in September 2011.
ECU’s 2010 3MT competition was a huge success. With a large talent pool in all Faculty competitions, over 45 HDR candidates competed, with nine candidates successfully reaching the final, showcasing some of the incredible research being undertaken by our HDR students. Jeremy Rice was announced as the winner and represented ECU at the competition final at the University of Queensland.
The exercise develops academic, presentation, and research communication skills and supports the development of research students' capacity to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience.
The winner of the 2011 3MT competition will win a $1,500 travel grant, plus an opportunity to represent ECU at the University of Western Australia on Thursday, 29 September. Prizes are also awarded for second, third and People's Choice.
