Child Health Promotion Research Centre
Comprising a multi-disciplinary research team, the Child Health Promotion Research Centre (CHPRC) aims to improve the overall physical, emotional and mental health and well-being of children and their families through high-quality research, translating research into policy and practice at regional, national and international level and working with relevant stakeholders to reduce the time lag between knowledge development and effective community action.
CHPRC has been instrumental in conducting evidence-based research to develop and trial practical interventions to promote child health through family, school and community-based projects. By developing strong collaborative links with government agencies and encouraging key stakeholder group participation in the development of these interventions, the Centre aims to ensure their findings inform state and national policy and practice.
Its research team is regionally and nationally recognised for its school and community-based programs in the areas of:
- Bullying and aggression prevention and mental health promotion
- Drug use control
- Road safety and injury control
- Promotion of healthy weight for the prevention of overweight and obesity in children.
