Mine Water and Environment Research Centre
The Mine Water and Environment Research (MiWER) Group is a formal research group based in Western Australia at ECU’s Centre for Ecosystem Management at the Joondalup Campus.
We are an international team of highly qualified professional scientists with skills spanning Ecology to Chemistry all with an interest in the aquatic sciences.
Within the MiWER Group, staff apply their scientific knowledge and skills to researching applied and fundamental water quality issues surrounding the mining industry and mining legacies, in particular pit lakes. We often have opportunities for research collaborations with other research providers.
We also provide a high quality consultancy service to industry and government on environment management issues in the area of freshwater ecosystems, mining or otherwise
