Gary Choney with his poster
Congratulations to Masters student Gary Choney for receiving a special commendation on his poster, 'Black swan abundance and grazing pressure in the Swan River estuary, Western Australia' at the International River's Symposium in Perth in October. Gary has found that there are key areas in the lower Swan River estuary that are important for black swans, and these locations vary over the year. Also black swans are significant grazers of the seagrass, Halophila ovalis, consuming between 5-30% of the seagrass production over the year.
