Randomized controlled trial of vibration therapy administered to breast cancer survivors
This project is a randomized controlled trial of vibration therapy, administered to breast cancer survivors prescribed aromatase inhibitors which cause a rapid loss of bone mass. Vibration stimulus, delivered by standing on a gently vibration platform, is a relatively new therapy that has shown some positive results in previous studies of bone in postmenopausal women without breast cancer. The aim of the study is to determine if this novel intervention can reduce rate of bone breakdown in this vulnerable cohort. Such findings would have major implications for preventing osteoporosis and skeletal fractures secondary to breast cancer.
