Dr Craig Donald
Background
Dr Craig Donald is an industrial psychologist with a specialist involvement in human factors in the security industry and CCTV in particular. He consults internationally in security management, is a specialist in body language and incident behaviour in security applications, and is consulting editor for Hi-Tech Security Magazine on human factor issues. He is a Director of Advanced Development Applications and Leaderware and an associate of s2i Pty Ltd in Australia and Tavcom Training in the UK. He also works closely with QinetiQ on a project basis in the UK.
Craig lectured part time for two years each at the Psychology Department of The University of the Witwatersrand and the Graduate Institute of Management and Technology. He has been an external examiner for Masters and PhD theses for the University of Johannesburg and has supervised industrial psychologist internship training required for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. He has also been an executive member of the Society for Industrial Psychology. He has worked with the CSIR in South Africa in helping to set national guidelines for CCTV, the TNO-FEL in Holland on CCTV research projects, and on several projects with QinetiQ (formerly the Defence and Evaluation Research Agency) in the UK.
Craig has worked in the selection and training of CCTV operators in major operations in the UK, Canada, Australia, Poland, and Southern and East Africa. This includes major international commodity companies such as Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton, the Diamond Trading Company, De Beers, AngloGold Ashanti, Anglo Platinum, and Goldfields.
In addition he has been involved in aviation with companies such as British Airports Authority (BAA), Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA), Emirates, and Warsaw Airport, as well as major casino groups, and manufacturing enterprises such as BMW, and Toyota.
Police forces with whom he has provided CCTV training are the South African Police Services, Botswana Police, Sussex Police in the UK, Western Australia Police, and municipal police in Poland, while training has also been provided to Australian Customs in conjunction with s2i. Craig has also been involved in training for a wide range of Government departments, town centres, manufacturing, financial, and commercial organisations.
