Background

As a technical consultant for the Glamorgan Computer Forensics Lab, Gareth has been responsible for the investigation and analysis of a vast number of cases both civil and criminal. This work has involved large-scale computer forensic investigations, complex logical operating system and hard disk firmware repair and physical repair of electromagnetic hard disk components.

Clients include but are not limited to UK government departments and UK security services, many local and national police forces, including the Manchester Metropolitan Police and London Metropolitan Police Digital Evidence Forensic Service. Gareth has also carried out logical and physical data recovery work for numerous commercial organisations in the UK and Europe.

Gareth has been trained in secure operations protocol and can effectively operate in UK Government accredited secure facilities [Impact Level 5]. Over the past two years Gareth has been responsible for maintaining and operating Digital Forensics / Data Recovery laboratories. As part of a Residual Data research study, sponsored by British Telecom, he was personally responsible for the Forensic analysis of over 230 Hard Disk Drives.
