Held annually on the 8 March, International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women in the past, present and future. It is a day when women are recognised for their achievements, regardless of divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.
To coincide with International Women’s Day 2012, Kurongkurl Katitjin has developed a specific Indigenous timeline fact sheet.
The fact sheet has been compiled to highlight significant achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in their chosen field in Australia, as well as the acknowledging the valuable contribution of our University’s namesake Edith Dirksey Cowan.
