Current ECU Graduate Diploma of Broadcasting student Josh Marshall-Clarke was recently nominated for ‘Most Outstanding Journalism Student’ in the 2012 WA Media Awards.

Josh’s news story ‘Mates In Construction’ explores the high rates of suicide and depression in the construction industry and the new program designed to reduce it.

When asked what the ‘Mates In Construction Program’ was about, Josh replied, “it’s about breaking down the communication barriers between guys working on-site. If someone is struggling they need to be able to tell their mates”.

Josh said he was proud to be nominated for such an award, “It’s really important that there’s awards like this that recognise the work of students. It’s the motivation you need to keep working hard”.

The winners will be announced at the WA Media Awards Ball to be held on November 3 at the Hyatt Regency Perth. For more information and the full list of nominees, please visit the WA Media Awards website.
