Sundari Carmody uses alternative photographic processes to explore the depths of loss, absence and desire. Inspired by the transient nature of memory, time and photography, Carmody embraces the unpredictable and imperfect results produced by pinhole and Polaroid cameras.
Responding to feelings of solitude, hope, melancholy, and desire the artist captures suspended moments, framing them and engaging the viewer. Within her work, Carmody looks to Romantic narratives from the 19th century while placing her work firmly in a contemporary (metamodernist) context.
