New York is imagined as a city of energy, a city of dreams, a city of hope. Allmark explores the classic structure of street photography to explore these ideas.
Commerce, militarisation and political protest are the themes that are represented within the cultural geography of New York City. On a more intimate scale the photographs present Allmark’s engagement with a vibrant city. NEW YORK STORIES conveys the liberation and optimism in the year of Obama’s inauguration, as well as the despair of the global financial crisis and the aftermath of 9/11.
