Peake’s work develops through a methodical exploration of material experimentation. Works are created through a series of predetermined actions, which are applied across the surface. In “You circa You” Transparent medium on mirror is utilised in order to create a surface that embodies a tension between material and image.
The densely layered works are the consequence of a set of strictly imposed rules that govern the painting process. These methods of experimentation and creation operate as metaphorical analogies investigating the relationships between surface, medium, viewer and the world.
