Teaching teachers for the future

Tuesday, 04 October 2011

Paul Newhouse is the coordinator with four staff members involved as ICT Pedagogy Officers: Alistair Campbell, Martin Cooper, Will Turner, and Linda Marshall. The project is for 2011 with the final report due in June 2012. The aim of the project at ECU is to improve the use of ICT by teaching staff in the School of Education. As part of the project Jenny Lane has led the development of a Blackboard site for IT Support and professional learning for our School. Among other things this site includes help documents and materials from the Pinch-o-SaLT sessions. It is the one place to go for helpful information for using ICT in our school.

This substantial and innovative national project specifically targets systematic change in the ICTE proficiency of graduate teachers across Australia. The project team is led by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC), and includes the Australian Council of Deans of Education, the Australian Institute for Teachers and School Leaders, Education Services Australia and the Australian Council for Computers in Education and Australian universities/institutions with pre-service teacher education programs. The project focuses on enabling pre-service teachers to achieve and demonstrate (upon graduation) competence in the effective and innovative use of ICT in education to improve student learning.
