Congratulations to Associate Professor Jacques Oosthuizen and the Public Health team who have received national accreditation for the Environmental Health major, which forms part of the Bachelor of Health Sciences Degree.

Accreditation was awarded by Environmental Health Australia and the WA Environmental Health Officers Professional Review Board.

The Environmental Health major is a specialist stream offered by the School of Exercise and Health Science as a number of units are taught by the School of Natural Sciences and the School of Medical Sciences.

The course was developed in consultation with local WA employers of Environmental Health Officers and was mapped against EnHealth criteria for Environmental Health Practitioners.

Local and State Government departments that employ Environmental Health Officers are currently developing a cadetship policy that will enable students to be employed while they study. Once established, it is envisaged that ECU students will be eligible for cadetships.
