Australia’s workforce is ageing with serious implications for society.
ECU PhD student Jonathan Georgiou is researching how WA’s workforce can benefit from greater mature age employment and how we can improve working conditions.
Mr Georgiou is in the initial stage of his research and is looking for participants to take part. Participants would need to meet the following criteria:
- Active mature age employees and volunteers over the age of 45 (including the self-employed);
- Managerial, administrative or executive level workers who are in a supervisory role over other staff;
- Any person who has officially fully or semi-retired from either paid employment or volunteer work;
- Any person who may have retired but has since returned to the workforce or volunteer sector; and
- Inactive mature age employees who have been unemployed for an extended period of time. This includes the ‘Hidden Unemployed’ who may have been forced into ‘retirement’ despite a willingness to work.
To take part, participants will need to complete a short 15-30 minute survey under either of the following categories:
- The first survey is for active labour force participants who have never retired and are currently employed; and
- The second survey is for retirees, semi-retired, the unemployed or people who have returned to work after already having fully retired.
