Congratulations to ECU’s Health and Wellness Institute team, winners of the Largest Tertiary Team award at the annual Mother’s Day Classic fun run.

Held on of Mother’s Day each year, the nationwide initiative sees communities from around Australia gather to raise much needed funds for breast cancer research while celebrating with their mothers at this family friendly event.

The ECU team, led by Post Doctoral Research Fellow from ECU’s Health and Wellness Institute, Dr Prue Cormie, consisted of Health and Wellness Institute staff, participants involved in the institute’s current breast cancer research project, and other ECU staff members.

“The Institute does a lot of research into utilising exercise as medicine to help with the management of cancer. We really wanted to participate in the event to show our support for such a worthwhile cause, which is close to the hearts of many of us here at the institute,” said Dr Cormie.

“We were really proud to be involved, and to receive recognition was an added bonus. I would like to thank everyone who took time out of their day and made the ECU team such a success.”

The award recognised ECU’s efforts as the largest tertiary team present on the day of all the Western Australian universities.
