Institute hosts International leader in Exercise Oncology research

ECU's Health and Wellness Institute has played host to Professor Roanne Segal from the University of Ottawa. Professor Segal is a leading international expert in exercise and cancer management and is the Medical Director of the Oncology Rehabilitation and Survivorship Program at the University of Ottawa in Canada. Her main clinical areas of expertise are in the domains of breast and genito-urinary malignancy with rehabilitation oncology her main research focus. 

Professor Segal was in Australia as a Keynote Speaker at the National 5th Exercise Science Australia Conference and 7th Sports Dietitians Australia held at Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast. Concluding the conference Professor Segal was accompanied by Institute Director, Associate Professor Daniel Galvao to Perth. This was a unique opportunity to spend time with her and discuss the development of new studies and new research grant applications.

Dr Segal was impressed with the quality of the facilities and the research conducted at the Institute. ECU's team of researchers and clinicians are looking forward to working with Roanne on multi-site trials.
