South West Wellness Expo

More than 170 people turned out for the ECU South West Wellness Expo, held on Wednesday, 10 August at the South West Campus.

The event attracted staff, students and community members with a range of free activities promoting health and well being, including free reflexology, blood pressure checks, cooking demonstrations, prize draws and giveaways.

Bali bombing survivor and guest speaker, Peter Hughes, shared his inspirational life story. Peter made headlines in 2002 when his blistered face was shown just hours after the devastating attack.

“Health and fitness is really important for someone like me that has gone through a massive trauma,” said Peter.

“I realised early on in my recovery that eating the right foods and getting mobile made such a difference, and this is what the Health and Wellness Expo is all about.”

The event follows the success of Expos held at the Joondalup and Mount Lawley Campuses earlier this year. The events are an initiative of the staff Health and Wellness Live Life Longer Program.
