Hosted by Newton Moore Senior High School the fair saw budding high school scientists take on a science topic of their choice for a 10 week challenge.

Staff from the Engagement Unit were proud to make up the judging panel alongside Faculty of Regional & Professional Studies Faculty Manager Annie Holt who represented ECU South West Campus on behalf of the Dean, Robert Irvine.

The Engagement Unit sponsored the awards with prizes ranging from iPads to science experiment kits from SciTech, all of which were enthusiastically received by the winning entrants.

Professor Lyn Beazley, Chief Scientist of WA, gave an inspiring talk to the science fair attendees ranging from high school and primary school students, to notable figures from the Bunbury region including Bunbury Mayor David Smith.

Newton Moore Head of Science Lorraine Ellis thanked the University for its involvement in the Science Fair.

“Students were very excited to have the opportunity to showcase their work and be judged by people from a university,” she said.

“We look forward to building on our partnership.”
