Initiatives
Bike Racks
Following consultation between the ECUBUG and the Facilities Management
Office (FMO) at Joondalup campus, new “U” rails are being installed
at key
locations around the campus. These will replace the “toast racks”
which provide
poor support and security for bikes.
"U" rails have also been installed at Mt Lawley Campus.
Lockers
Lockers have been installed in the change rooms in building 17 and building
30 (Joondalup) for use exclusively by cyclists.
Keys can be obtained from FMO (building 6).
Locker access for cyclists on Mt Lawley campus has been negotiated with
the Sports Science department in the Gym, building 15.
Secure Bike Enclosures
We are working with the University on installing an enclosure as a secure
long term bicycle parking facility.
Planning
The University is currently reviewing transport access to all campuses through
the Transport Reference Group.
This group includes representatives from local
councils, Department of Planning and Infrastructure, Estill and Associates,
staff, students and ECUBUG members.
In addition to representing cyclists interests at these meetings, the ECUBUG
made a formal submission to the group suggesting ways sustainable transport
can be promoted for trips to and from ECU campuses. A PDF file of the
submission can be downloaded from here.

The Transport Reference Group will produce a draft Transport Access Plan
by
the early 2003. This document will be posted on this web site when it
becomes available.
