Practicum Program
At ECU Sports we pride ourselves on having programmes to suit everyone. Starting in 2010, ECU Sports will be administering a Programme - which will aim to provide students with a variety of Sports and Recreation work experience opportunities.
ECU Sports is pleased to offer students the opportunity to complete practicum/work experience placement requirements in a supportive and stimulating learning environment. By participating in the programme, students can expect to gain valuable experience to further enhance their work experience, better preparing you for the work force.

Heya, I’m Rachel.
Are you finding yourself getting too busy and caught up in the day to day things? Not making enough time to properly look after yourself? Do you feel tired and run down with no energy or motivation to feel great again?......
Passionate about instigating lasting change in people’s lives, I’m here to help you gain and maintain your goals. Whether they include loosing those extra kilos, toning up, increasing your fitness and energy levels or simply just to feel great!
Having grown up as a very active child, I was always playing sport. I carried that through my teen years competing in netball, tennis and swimming along with many other hobbies. I tried including Irish dancing, diving, trampolining and kick boxing. Completing my Certificate III in Gym instructing and IV in Personal Training through Central Tafe, I joined the ECU team in November 2005, and am currently furthering my study here at ECU studying a Bachelor of Sports Science.
I love working in the fitness industry, helping you make your goals reality. Not only training and pushing you physically within the gym environment, but equipping you with skills that bring about lasting lifestyle changes that maximise your potential so you can enjoy a greater quality of life!
About Jeff
Jeff was born in Perth WA and has been working at ECU Sports since February 2003 and has loved every minute of it!
Hobbies and Interests
Jeff enjoys going to the beach, working out, keeping active, and chilling with friends and family. Jeff is a level 1 accredited coach for the Karate which he has been doing for over 11 years now. Jeff was the title World Champion for the men’s Under 19’s.
Style
In your sessions you will be pushed outside of your comfort zone, and you will be doing things that you never thought you would do. This is all designed to challenge you both mentally and physically to get you the best results whilst ensuring you exercise in a safe manner.
When Jeff trains people he never sets anything that is unachievable for the individual although it may seem that way sometimes. He encourages a positive, hard working attitude.
Qualifications
- Certificate III in Health and Fitness
- Certificate IV in advanced PT
- Jeff has been training at an elite level personally for 9 years

Helen Alexander
About Helen
With a varied background including fashion designer, lecturer, swimwear designer & chef/caterer, Helen started with us in February 2006 and she is loving it.
Hobbies & Interests
Helen loves to catch up with family and friends, dining out, walks along the beach with her Kelpie, cooking, travelling and of course keeping fit – which consists of spending time here at ECU gym – she particularly enjoys fitball, (thanks to Di’s fun and informative classes).
Style
Training sessions with Helen will be a fun and positive experience. With a holistic view to health & fitness, you can be assured your mind, as well as your body will receive a workout.

- Diploma of exercise science & fitness management
- Group fitness & Fitball instructor
