Introduction to the Transport Reference Group (TRG)
A Transport Reference Group (TRG) has been formed to investigate public
and other transport opportunities at ECU's Joondalup and Mt Lawley
campuses.
The TRG comprises about 25 members drawn from ECU's staff and student
population, local government authorities and the Department for Planning
and
Infrastructure (DPI).
At the moment a high proportion of staff and students either drive their
own
car to University or come as a passenger. The aim is to encourage people
to
use other transport modes such as public transport, cycling and walking
by
making these opportunities more attractive.
Aside from the benefits to those who use alternative transport and the
University, a program like this will also result in obvious benefits to
the
environment.
Other items for discussion include the development of transport information
sheets/maps detailing bus and train timetables and the location of cycle
paths.
The group is convened by Campus Consolidation project managers Estill and
Associates and supported by ECU's Facilities and Services Centre.
