ECU's Experience Based Entry Scheme allows you to be considered for entry to an undergraduate course through an assessment of your ability to succeed in higher education. It's based on your portfolio of evidence.

Our Experience Based Entry Scheme allows you to be considered for entry to an undergraduate course through an assessment of your ability to succeed in higher education. This is based on a portfolio of evidence you provide to us.

School leavers

You can use the Experience Based Entry Scheme if you're currently in Year 12 and:

  • you had a near-miss ATAR for your chosen course

or

  • you haven't generated an ATAR, but you've passed 3 ATAR subjects plus 1 General subject

and

  • you've completed WACE
  • you meet the English competency requirements
  • you satisfy any prerequisites for the course you want to apply for

Year 12 Students

If you're a Year 12 student seeking admission for Semester 1, please submit your course application and supporting documentation through our online admission system.

If you've also applied through TISC, please remember to quote your TISC ID as part of your ECU application.

We recommend you have the University Preparation course as one of your preferences.

Not currently in Year 12

Your previous qualifications and education will be assessed as part of your application. For example:

  • previous ATAR, TEE, TER or TAE results
  • results for the multiple choice component of the Special Tertiary Admissions Test
  • qualifications from TAFE, private colleges or accredited training courses
  • relevant work experience

Submitting an application

Are you home-schooled?

If you've completed or are completing studies at home, please submit the following information as part of your application.

  • Results from your participation in the Year 9 National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) or the Online Numeracy and Literacy Assessment (OLNA) (if applicable).
  • Confirmation of the registration of your home educator by the Education office.
  • Any other curriculum information that assists in the assessment of your application.

Hold a Duke of Edinburgh International Award?

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award represents the pinnacle of achievement by young people in personal growth, outdoor learning, community service and leadership development.

If you hold this award, ECU will recognise your commitment, discipline and determination as you've ventured outside of your comfort zone to excel and develop your interpersonal, employability and practical skills.

Please add this achievement to your resume to be included with your Experience Based Entry application.
