We offer a wide range of alternative entry pathways which you can use to gain entry into many of our courses, in addition to the traditional ATAR (TER) pathway.
Explore your options - you may be able to use Portfolio Entry, the UPC, previous study at TAFE or Tertiary level, a specialised entry pathway for Australian Indigenous peoples, your STAT results or your professional experience to enter our courses!
Year 12s pathways
In addition to the ATAR student entry pathway, we have several alternative entry pathways:
- 3+1 student (If you are studying 3 WACE courses at Stage 2 or above (including English) and 1 course at Stage 1)
- Certificate IV student (If you are completing a Cert IV in Year 12 plus English at WACE Stage 2 or above)
- 2+2 student (If you are studying 2 WACE courses at Stage 2 or above (including English) and 2 WACE courses at Stage 1)
Portfolio Entry Pathway
Enables you to apply for undergraduate courses based on a portfolio of evidence.Your portfolio will contain a covering letter, a resume, copies of certificates & awards, plus records of any previous studies at high school, TAFE or elsewhere.
You may need to complete an interview as part of our assessment of your portfolio. You will still need to meet English competency requirements, appropriate admission requirements as well as any special admission requirements of the specific course you're wanting to study.

Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)
Enables you to apply for undergraduate courses based on your results from the Special Tertiary Admissions Test.The STAT is available to non school leavers (mature-age students). To be considered as a mature age student you must be 20 years or over before 1 March of the year in which you intend to study.

University Preparation Course (UPC)
If you're not eligible to apply for an undergraduate degree directly, you can use our University Preparation Course (UPC) as an alternative entry pathway to our undergraduate courses.If you are a school leaver, a recent school graduate or a mature-age applicant who doesn't fulfil requirements to enter an undergraduate course directly; and you want to prepare yourself for university level study - the UPC is for you!
Successful completion of the UPC meets our minimum entry requirements for the majority of courses. You will still need to meet any prerequisites required for the specific course you want to apply for.

TAFE, RTO and Private College Qualifications
If you have completed a Certificate III, IV or above at TAFE, or an equivalent level at a private college, we can consider your application for entry in to either the UPC or one of our undergraduate courses - dependent on your age and level of schooling you've previously completed.Information for School Leavers | Non School Leavers
Indigenous Entry Pathways
We provide support and specialised entry pathways Australian Indigenous peoples can use to enter our courses:- Indigenous Student Intake Test (ISIT)
- Indigenous University Orientation Course (IUOC)
Previous Tertiary Study
If you have already completed or partially completed a bachelor's degree or postgraduate qualification at a tertiary institution - whether in Australia or overseas - you may be eligible for entry into a range of our courses based on your previous tertiary study.Information for Non School Leavers | Postgraduates
Professional experience counts
If you have at least five years of professional experience relevant to the course, then you may be eligible for entry into one of our Graduate Certificate programs.
Our recognition of your professional experience can enable you to bypass undergraduate study altogether and go straight into a postgraduate course!
