Postgraduate by Coursework and Honours

We provide scholarships and awards to students enrolled in an Honours program or Master by coursework.

Scholarships generally have selection criteria, which must be met, and can provide financial support to assist you with education and living expenses.

Higher Degree by Research

At ECU, we are committed to undertaking high quality research and offer a number of scholarships to students undertaking a Doctoral or Master by research degree.

Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary)

A dynamic course which builds on expertise developed in an undergraduate degree.

It incorporates proven contemporary teaching and classroom management strategies, curriculum understanding and practical school experience, to qualify graduates to teach in a major and minor area of the secondary curriculum.

This course is Commonwealth Government Supported for eligible students.

Students are required to complete practicum placement(s) as part of this course.


  • This course is accredited by the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA). Graduates of this course will be eligible for registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) and the ability to practise depends on successful registration. Whilst graduates of the course are strongly sought after both nationally and internationally, students should be aware that registration requirements may differ between states and countries. Pre-service teachers considering possible employment in Western Australia following graduation from this award should refer to TRBWA.

    Graduates must meet the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) English language proficiency requirements for teacher registration in Western Australia. Further information is available at

Additional Course Information

Professional Practice
The Professional Practice components of this course require a full-time commitment in schools.

Students will be required to submit a National Police History Check from the Department of Education WA, and a Working With Children Check before commencing their first school placement as part of the course. Further information is available at

Further studies

Students interested in progressing to a specific field of study can choose from a range of specialised Graduate Certificates in learning difficulties, literacy education, special education, English as a second language (TESOL), behaviour management and educational leadership. A Master of Education, by coursework, is also available.
