Course Main Navigation

Bachelor of Health Science

This course structure will be available to students commencing the course from Semester 1, 2015 onwards.

This course structure contains information about the units which comprise the course as well as the credit points required to successfully complete it.

The Bachelor of Health Science course comprises 360 credit points (24 units). Students can choose to undertake two of the 8 unit majors or one of the specialised majors:

8 unit Majors: Addiction Studies, Health Promotion, Nutrition, and Occupational Safety & Health (OS&H).

Specialised Majors: Environmental Health (16 unit accredited major) or Nutrition Bio Science (16 unit major - pathway to post-graduate dietetics courses).

The following structures can be selected:

8 core units + 8 unit major + additional 8 unit major

8 core units + 8 unit major + 6 unit minor + 2 electives

8 core units + 16 unit specialised major.

Students can undertake any of the majors which are listed as approved unit sets under the Bachelor of Health Science course. However, a 6 unit 'unspecified' minor may be approved by the Course Co-ordinator for students who have advanced standing. Where students choose to undertake only one of the 8 unit majors, minors are available in the following areas: Addiction Studies, Health Promotion, Nutrition, and Occupational Safety and Health (OS&H).

In some cases, students may be given permission to undertake a minor in Sports Science or Human Resource Management with the approval of the Course Co-ordinator. Students who are undertaking the Addiction Studies major, can also select a minor in Youth Work if they have a special interest in this area.

If you plan to commence this course in Semester 2 2014, please refer to this course structure:
