Bachelor of Education (Secondary)

Major In Physical Science Education

The science and education units in this major will focus on teaching processes and content that equips students to teach general science in lower secondary school and to take a specialist teaching role in physical science courses (e.g. chemistry and physics) in upper secondary school (years 11 and 12).

Emphasis is given to inquiry-based practical work, demonstrations, co-operative group work, whole class discussions and use of information communication technology to ensure effective learning and teaching practices in secondary science. Planning, teaching and assessment strategies will be developed within a range of science content areas.

Units in this major address key physical science understandings and provide the extended content knowledge needed to address the demands and opportunities of the secondary school physical science curriculum.

This unitset structure contains information about the units which comprise the course as well as the credit points required to successfully complete it.

Special Admission Requirements

A satisfactory performance in WACE Mathematics General 3C/3D or Mathematics: Specialist 3A/3B and satisfactory performance in 3A/3B Chemistry or 3A/3B Physics, or equivalents are required.



Students must complete 10 Major Content Study units and 2 Curriculum Major units.
