Major In Surf Science
Developed for individuals who have a passion for surfing. It provides the opportunity to pursue rigorous academic study and become a well qualified, sought after individual within the surf industry, as a surfing coach or an outdoor education/physical education specialist with a point of difference.
Highlights of Surf Science include camps to appropriate surfing locations in the South West, event management as well as informal meetings with key representatives from the local surfing industry.
The major is delivered in conjunction with Surfing WA and Surf Life Saving (Australia).

Surf Science is intended for individuals who have a passion for surfing. The major is available for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science course. This major provides opportunity to pursue rigorous academic study and become a well qualified, sought after individual within the surf industry, as a surfing coach or an outdoor education/physical education specialist with a point of difference. Delivered in conjunction with Surfing WA and Surf Life Saving (Australia), this major is recommended to be undertaken at ECU South West in combination with the Coastal Environmental Science major. Highlights of Surf Science include camps to appropriate surfing locations in the south west, event management and delivery of the renowned ECU Surf Challenge surfing competition and informal meetings with key representatives from the local surfing industry.
