Indicative tuition fee information for postgraduate courses (domestic students)

Postgraduate course tuition fees are generally charged at the Full Fee or Domestic Fee Paying rate. Government and University funded scholarships and financial support may be applicable for certain postgraduate courses.

Postgraduate by Coursework and Honours

We provide scholarships and awards to students enrolled in an Honours program or Master by coursework.

Scholarships generally have selection criteria, which must be met, and can provide financial support to assist you with education and living expenses.

Higher Degree by Research

At ECU, we are committed to undertaking high quality research and offer a number of scholarships to students undertaking a Doctoral or Master by research degree.

Research scholarships support Australian and New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents.

The Research Training Scheme provides tuition fee funding for students in selected research courses. Whilst you remain eligible for this scheme, you will not be required to pay for your tuition fees up-front, nor will you accrue a tuition fee debt for the duration of the course.

To be eligible you must be:

  • an Australian Citizen;
  • an Australian Permanent Resident; or
  • a New Zealand Citizen

Postgraduate Commonwealth Government Supported Courses

These courses are subsidised by the Australian Government. The Government contributes towards your tuition fees and you are responsible for the remaining tuition fees called your 'student contribution'. The rate of tuition fees changes annually for these courses.

Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner)

This Coursework Masters provides a cross-institutional approach enabling students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills as a component of their application for registration as a Nurse Practitioner to the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.

Developed in conjunction with Flinders University, South Australia, part one of the program enables the student to enhance their individual knowledge and skill whilst working in their selected area of specialisation.

Part two of the program enables the student to acquire the theoretical knowledge and skills required of a nurse practitioner in a specialist nurse or extended practice role.

This course is Commonwealth Government Supported for eligible students.


  • This course is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC). Graduates of this course will be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and the ability to practise depends on successful registration. To be eligible to apply for endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, graduates of this program must evidence the following requirements:

    1. Current general registration as a Registered Nurse with no conditions on the registration relating to unsatisfactory professional performance or unprofessional conduct;
    2. The equivalent of three years full-time experience in an advanced practice role within the previous six years from the date of lodgement of the application;
    3. Completion of a Board approved Nurse Practitioner program of study at master's level or equivalent as determined by the Board;
    4. Compliance with the National Competency Standards for the Nurse Practitioner and
    5. Compliance with the Board's registration standard on continuing professional development as a Registered Nurse.

Additional Course Information

Due to the co-delivery of this degree with Flinders University, and associated University policy, advanced standing cannot be provided for units offered by Edith Cowan University.

This course is not available for on-campus study by students with an International student visa.
