Bachelor of Health Science
Health and wellbeing are critical components of life. Health Science is the study of the physical, psychological, social, and environmental dimensions of health.
There is a growing demand for health professionals who have the skills to promote and enhance health and wellness to minimise the impact of preventable health problems.
This course prepares students to become life-long learners who are able to make a positive contribution to enhancing the health of communities.
Students graduate with the practical and theoretical knowledge and skills in communication, teamwork, critical thinking, innovation and, cross-cultural and international awareness.
Employment opportunities exist within a range of workplaces with past graduates finding employment in the following places: aged care facilities and hospitals; rural and regional settings; asthma/diabetes/cancer/injury prevention councils; heart foundation; family planning associations; alcohol and other drug agencies; community development and local government organisations; disability services; justice and correctional agencies; research institutes; international aid organisations; mental health support agencies.
Students can major in one of the following disciplines:
- Addiction Studies
- Health Promotion
- Nutrition
- Occupational Safety and Health.
A double major in Addiction Studies and Youth Work is also available.
