Non-ATAR students

If your students are not studying four courses at WACE Course Stage 2 or above (i.e. they are not an ATAR student), then they are considered a non-ATAR student.

Applying to undergraduate courses

If they have completed a Certificate IV during Year 12 and satisfactorily completed WACE English Stage 2 or above, they can apply directly to ECU.

Alternatively, they can submit a portfolio entry to be considered for an undergraduate course, provided they satisfy the following:

  • English competency (Stage 2 or above)
  • The requirements of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE)
  • Any prerequisites for the course they want to apply and;
  • Have successfully completed at least 3 subjects at Stage 2 or above and 1 subject at Stage 1

Portfolio entry successful

If their portfolio entry is successful, they may be offered a place in the course.

Portfolio entry not successful

They may be offered a place into one of our University Preparation Courses, which they can use as a stepping stone into one of our undergraduate courses.

Applying to University Preparation Courses

If they have completed a Certificate IV during Year 12 plus have an A grade in WACE English 1C and 1D, they can apply directly to ECU. 

Alternatively, they can also submit a portfolio entry to be considered for one of our University Preparation Courses, provided they satisfy the following:

  • English competency
  • The requirements of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE)
  • Any prerequisites for the course they want to apply for
  • Have successfully completed at least 2 subjects at Stage 2 or above and 2 subjects at Stage 1
