First year indicative tuition fees for undergraduate courses (domestic students)

Two kinds of domestic tuition fees are explained below. Identify which indicative domestic tuition fee may be applicable to you.

Commonwealth Supported Place

Under this arrangement, the Australian Government contributes towards your tuition fees and you are responsible for the remaining tuition fees, called your 'student contribution'.

You are eligible to be Commonwealth Supported if you are studying:

  • a Bachelor's degree;
  • an Associate Diploma;
  • an Honours degree; or
  • selected Commonwealth Government Supported postgraduate courses.

You must also satisfy ONE of the following criteria:

  • You are an Australian Citizen.
  • You hold a Permanent Humanitarian visa.
  • You are a New Zealand Citizen and you are living in Australia whilst studying.
  • You hold an Australian Permanent Residency visa and you are living in Australia whilst studying.

Please note that eligibility for a Commonwealth Supported rate of fees does not determine your eligibility for a Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) loan. For further details and to obtain a more comprehensive indication of tuition fees, please use the Fees Calculator.

Domestic Tuition Fee

Domestic tuition fees (unsubsidised full fee amount) will be applicable to you if you are not eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place.

Domestic tuition fees also apply to non-award courses (courses or programs that do not lead to a higher education award, but are studied for general interest, professional purposes, or to gain entry to a degree program through an alternative pathway). More about non-award courses.

University Preparation Course (Education Assistant: Special Needs)

This course will develop high level classroom support skills for students entering educational settings as education assistants in the area of special needs. Skills will be developed over four units of study, which will enable students to work with learners with a wide range of specific learning needs. Students will develop knowledge, skills and an understanding of the classroom, as well as curriculum support skills required to work as an educational assistant with special needs learners in educational contexts from kindergarten to secondary level.

Specific disabilities to be investigated will include learning, intellectual and physical disabilities. Professional skills and knowledge included in this course will increase students' academic writing, referencing and professional presentation skills to support entry to university.

Students are required to complete practicum placement(s) as part of this course.

Non-Standard Timetable Information (e.g. early start, weekend courses, etc)

Classes for this course are delivered over weekends.

Semester 1 applicants: this course commences mid-February.
Semester 2 applicants: this course commences mid-July.

Additional Course Information

Workplace Experience
This course will require students to spend one day per week on a workplace experience in the final unit. Students will be placed in an educational setting working with learners with special education needs.

Clearances Required
All students will be required to submit a National Policel History Check from the Department of Education WA.
Any students aged 18 or over will also need to supply a Working with Children Check from the Department of Child Protection WA.

Course Fees
Australian Citizens, holders of humanitarian or permanent visas and New Zealand citizens who will be resident in Australia for the duration of their unit/s of study are normally eligible for Commonwealth funding, making the course free, with no up-front or deferred tuition fees.

Successful completion gives entry into the Bachelor of Education (Primary) and Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Studies). Entry into the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) is subject to meeting any prerequisite requirements.
