Indicative tuition fee information for postgraduate courses (domestic students)

Postgraduate course tuition fees are generally charged at the Full Fee or Domestic Fee Paying rate. Government and University funded scholarships and financial support may be applicable for certain postgraduate courses.

Some general fee information for coursework and research study is provided below.

We recommend you visit our Fees Calculator for a more comprehensive view of the cost of postgraduate courses and units.

Postgraduate by Coursework and Honours

We provide scholarships and awards to students enrolled in an Honours program or Master by coursework.

Scholarships generally have selection criteria, which must be met, and can provide financial support to assist you with education and living expenses.

Higher Degree by Research

At ECU, we are committed to undertaking high quality research and offer a number of scholarships to students undertaking a Doctoral or Master by research degree.

Research scholarships support Australian and New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents.

The Research Training Scheme provides tuition fee funding for students in selected research courses. Whilst you remain eligible for this scheme, you will not be required to pay for your tuition fees up-front, nor will you accrue a tuition fee debt for the duration of the course.

To be eligible you must be:

  • an Australian Citizen;
  • an Australian Permanent Resident; or
  • a New Zealand Citizen

For further details click here.

Postgraduate Commonwealth Government Supported Courses

These courses are subsidised by the Australian Government. The Government contributes towards your tuition fees and you are responsible for the remaining tuition fees called your 'student contribution'. The rate of tuition fees changes annually for these courses.

Master of Paramedical Science

This Coursework degree enables students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to work in an expanded scope of practice in critical or primary healthcare roles. Allows students to first enhance their individual knowledge and skill whilst working in their selected area of specialisation, and then acquire the theoretical knowledge and skills required of a paramedic in an extended practice role.

Students can elect to specialise in one of the following disciplines:
- Critical Care
- Community Paramedic
- Disaster and Emergency Response

Non-Standard Timetable Information (e.g. early start, weekend courses, etc)

The Critical Care and Community Paramedicine specialisations rely on the goodwill of health agencies for the provision of clinical experience. Students will be required to attend during the hours established by the clinical agency and these may occur at times outside the identified semester weeks and clinical practice periods may change with minimal notice to students due to circumstances outside the control of the School.

Mixed Mode Delivery Details

Students studying online should be aware that some units may require on-campus attendance in or outside the normal semester periods.

The course can be studied entirely online when suitable agreements have been established to provide supervision of the practical components of the course. However, if suitable supervisors and/or facilities are not available attendance at Joondalup campus will be required. In the absence of clinical placement settings, on campus intensive workshops will be provided to meet the learning outcomes of individual units.

Additional Course Information

Onshore International Students must study at least seven units on-campus in order to meet visa requirements.

Risk Management Protocols
To be able to undertake clinical practice and fulfill their duty of care, students are required to complete risk management protocols on commencement of the course and carry out amendments in subsequent semesters as appropriate. Risk management protocols include, but are not restricted to:
- Certificate of National Police Clearance;
- Current Manual Handling Certification: initial certification required plus annual renewal of certification; courses available via ECU provider;
- Evidence of immunisation status as per the Department of Health schedule;
- MRSA clearance if worked in, or been admitted to, a health facility outside of Western Australia in the 12 months prior to enrolment;
- Working with Children Check.

Related studies

This course also has exit points at Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma level for students in the Critical Care and Community Paramedicine specialisations, however, it does not have exit points for the Disaster and Emergency Response specialisation.
