Learning support
Learning at tertiary level is different to learning at secondary school/TAFE level. We help students get into the uni study groove with our learning support assistance and services.
Academic skills support
Our learning advisors offer students workshops, downloadable support materials and one-on-one consultation on things like referencing, note-taking, assignment & exam preparation, time management, using the library, report writing and more.
Off-campus (online) students can email, fax or phone for assistance.
Specialist library support
Our Faculty library teams provide specialist support for students in specific subject areas and disciplines. Services our on-campus and off-campus (online) students can access through their Faculty library team also include library training, referencing, research strategies and access to library resources.Career services
We tell our students that "It's never too early to start thinking about your career". Our Recruitment and Career Centres provide career counselling and employment information to current students and recent graduates.
The Careers Service can offer you the following services:
- Tools to plan and manage your career pathway
- Career Education Workshops
- Access to part-time, casual, full-time and graduate employment
- Information on Graduate Programs
- On-campus Employer Presentations and Career Fairs
- One-to-one career counselling
- ECU Volunteer Program
Refer to the ECU Recruitment and Career Centre website for more information.
Free printing credit
We allocate an amount of free printing credit for our students to claim each semester.
Free student webmail
We provide a free student webmail account to our students - we'll be using it to email them important updates about their enrolment, exams, results, library notices, events and much more.
Free computer access and resource borrowing
Our students have access to general computing facilities on all ECU campuses, called eLabs.
We also have a multimedia resources centre on each ECU campus which enables them to borrow multimedia equipment. These centres also offer binding and laminating services.
Don't forget all the fantastic resources available from the ECU Library.
Free referencing software
It might a bit early for them to appreciate this but we have set up free access to Endnote for our students. This means they'll be able to download and use it free of charge!
Endnote works with MS Word to create correctly formatted citations and reference lists - it will be a fantastic help for them in ensuring their assignments are correctly referenced.
Bridging programs
We offer several bridging programs aimed at students who will be enrolling into an undergraduate course which assumes they have a working knowledge of a particular subject area.
If they are applying to one of these courses and do not have recent or appropriate secondary subject knowledge in the area, they may be advised to complete the relevant bridging program prior to commencing their undergraduate studies with us.
