This nationally recognised qualification is the first year of a two year vocational dance program at WAAPA. This performance focused course provides intense practical experience, both technical and stylistic, in classes and through performance opportunities.
Students develop technical and creative skills in discipline areas of, ballet, pointe, pas de deux and solos, contemporary, choreography, dance history, music for dance, anatomy and nutrition.
This course is a nationally recognised qualification, specified in a national training package and is registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts follows an academic calendar that is slightly different to ECU’s standard academic calendar. For more information about semester start dates, study weeks, exam periods and breaks, please refer to ECU’s Important Dates page.
On competition, successful students can apply to articulate into the second year of the program, the Advanced Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance).
