Year 12s get stuck into communication and arts
Our School of Communications and Arts recently hosted 340 year 12 students to get a taste of ECU’s arts, media and digital communication units at the Mount Lawley Campus.
At three one-day "Intensives" the students enjoyed a day of free lectures and hands-on studio workshops, including the chance to record their own mini film, act as a news reporter, draw portraits with a life model and also construct their own virtual games.
The activities were a great opportunity for students to extend their learning in a tertiary environment. Students involved enjoyed the experience and when asked what the best part about the workshops was, one student said it was "being able to participate in lots of different activities and get a real feel for how the courses are." Another student added that he "enjoyed learning new things from professionals."
The workshops are designed to offer hands-on experiences for students. Not only do the students get to see what the courses entail, but they also know what is expected of them when they enter the field.
If your school is interested in these workshops, please contact our School of Communications and Arts through info.sca@ecu.edu.au.
