Professor Mel Ziman and Dr Elin Gray with the team from Skin Check WA
With two in three Australians to be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time they are seventy, Skin Check WA’s annual Freckle Checkle raised much need funds for Melanoma research at ECU.
Doctors and staff from 3 Skin Check WA clinics, along with ECU melanoma researchers, lent their support to promote skin cancer awareness within the community, and in particular early detection of Melanoma and supported over 315 clients on the day.
Recently Skin Check WA presented a cheque of $6,000 to Prof Mel Ziman from ECU Melanoma Research.
“Every year in Australia, skin cancers account for 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers. We are very grateful to Skin Check WA for supporting our research. The funds will be used towards the purchase of new state of the art equipment to aid in development of our blood tests for melanoma” said Prof Ziman.
ECU Melanoma Research appreciates the support of Dr Howard Lam and the team at Skin Check WA.
