Melanoma Research

Every 30 minutes, an Australian is diagnosed with melanoma.

If melanoma can be detected and removed before it spreads, the chance of a patient surviving is as high as 98%.

But for one in 10 melanoma patients, their diagnosis comes too late.

In a world-first, ECU’s Melanoma Research team discovered a marker in blood that may detect earlystage melanoma. It means melanoma may be diagnosed through a simple blood test.

Our team of world-class researchers are now working to understand why certain tumours respond to treatment while others are resistant, improving the chances of survival for all patients, and stopping the cancer from spreading.

This ground-breaking research has the potential to save the lives of so many people impacted by cancer across the globe.

Support for our research

To make the discoveries required in the fight against this deadly disease and move us towards our goal to eliminate melanoma deaths, we need your help.

Please donate now to help us save lives through early detection.
