Description

This unit aims to give students an understanding of how to ensure legal compliance in arts organisations by examining the key areas of business law relating to arts management including business structures, contract and agency law, and Australian consumer law.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of agency law.
  2. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of contract law.
  3. Understand the importance of managing legal compliance in arts organisations.
  4. Understand the various consumer protection provisions available under Australian law.

Unit Content

  1. An introduction to Australian consumer law.
  2. An overview of both Federal and State legal systems and procedures.
  3. Detailed examination of the law of contract, with specific application to the arts industry.
  4. Legal compliance for arts organisations.
