How to map a network drive to Web01 using Windows XP
ECU Network Procedure
This assumes that you are logged into your computer with your normal ECU Login (ADS account).
Note: If you are re-connecting a lost network drive (that is, step 1 has been completed previously on the computer you are using), you can go straight to step 2.
Step 1: Find computer web01.ads.ecu.edu.au
- Click on the Start button then select Search
- Search for Printers, computers, or people
- Look for a computer on the network
- Type web01.ads.ecu.edu.au and click on Search (This may take a few minutes). When the button labelled Stop is not available, the search has finished.
- Click on web01.ads.ecu.edu.au - you should be able to see a list of folders
If you cannot find computer web01.ads.ecu.edu.au after following this process, contact the IT Service Desk for assistance.
Step 2: Map network drive to web01.ads.ecu.edu.au
- Click on the Start button then select All Programs, Windows Explorer.
- From the Tools menu select Map Network Drive.
- From the Drive list select a drive letter that is not being used.
- In the Folder box type \\web01.ads.ecu.edu.au\<share name> where <sharename> is the name of the share you are trying to connect to. This is indicated in the 'Web Author Access' email you received when your web author account was created/updated.
- Ensure that the Reconnect at logon check box displays a tick.
- Click on Finish.
If your password is not accepted, or if you have forgotten your password, please contact the IT Service Desk and request your ECU Login password be reset. You can then change your ECU Login password using the Central Authentication System (CAS).
If this process has been successfully completed, when you open My Computer in Windows Explorer, you will now see a mapped drive similar to webadmin on 'ECU Main PROD Webserver (web01.ads.ecu.edu.au)' (W:) where 'webadmin' is the name of the share you chose and '(W:)' is the drive letter you chose.
